Our first project, Msheireb Downtown Doha is a long-term endowment for the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and will be of lasting, sustained value to the people of Qatar.
Inspiring and enriching lives is about developing a place that enhances and contributes to the quality of individuals’ and families’ lives. In Qatar we may have modern structures with good-looking facades but many of them are not designed for our environment and does not belong to our history or our architectural language . So we embarked on a project that would bring back our identity and develop a modern architectural language that is fit for our place and our future generations.
We started the research based on Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s vision of looking to fill the gap in Qatar’s architectural history and creating sustainable development. Although the structures our ancestors built were very basic, they were built for this part of the world. We decided to learn from this concept of architecture, taking elements from it and adapting it in a modern form. We want the new generation to take the new architectural language, take it beyond our time and make it into the identity of our country.
With our first project, Msheireb Downtown Doha, our objective is to bring back to life the down town of Doha through regenerating and reviving what was once the vibrant heart of Qatar, and transforming this area into a modern community that proudly embraces our heritage and culture.
The Musheireb project will be based on MSHEIREB PROPERTIES’s pillars of Heritage and Culture, Innovation, Sustainability, Enrichment and Environment. All these reflected through the use of specific aspects of traditional Qatari architecture featuring proportion, simplicity, space, light, layering, ornament and response to climate.
